Miracle Monday: A Malignant Mesothelioma survivor tells her story!

According to the W.H.O, the most common types of cancer affecting women are breast, lung, stomach, colorectal and cervical. However, cancer can affect any part of the body.
Malignant mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer, affecting the mesothelium (the protective lining covering most of the internal organs in the body). It most commonly occurs in the lungs but may also affect organs in the abdomen, heart and testis. The mesothelial lining in the lungs is called pleura

Last week, I got an email from Heather James, a mesothelioma survivor, who wanted to do a guest post on my blog. I was a bit hesitant about posting it here because this blog is basically about fashion, hair, weigh loss, skin & beauty. However, most of my readers are women and I felt her story would inspire someone. This is Heather's story:

How to build a skin care regimen part 2: skin types.

Your skin type basically determines the sort of skin care products to use. If you're not sure what skin type you fall into, you can determine by using a clean facial tissue to wipe your face first thing in the morning. OR You could also wash your face and refrain from using any toner and moisturizer. Wait for about 20 minutes and then check: how does your skin feel and/or look? The 5 skin types are:

Moving to self-hosted Wordpress

Hi everyone. I'm in the middle of moving this blog to wordpress. I don't know how that's going to work out but it might mean that this page will be down for a few days or less. Wish me luck!

How to build a skin care regimen part 1

I'm a firm believer that some are born with it, some have to work for it and there are a few unfortunate few that will never get it. This is my philosophy for many things in life.
When I was in medical school, I had a few friends that could sleep in their makeup and would never break out. They always marveled why I would wash my face every night: they just couldn't see the need for it. Unfortunately, I fall into the category of those who have to work for it.

You can still be a hot mom: what clothes to shop for when you're pregnant

Just me, having a cracking time (I almost lost my balance!)

When you're pregnant and you find that you can no longer fit in your old clothes, you know it's time to go shopping for new clothes!

Caught in the mill of life

Hello everyone! I am so sorry that I stopped blogging so abruptly! A lot has happened in the last  few months and I just couldn't bring myself to blog but now, things have quietened down and I'm back!
Just about the time I wrote my last post, I received some news and I really had mixed feelings about it. I was in the middle of preparing for my final exams for my MSc Public health. (By the way, my results are in and I'm grateful to God that I've been awarded with the degree). My daughter was just 5 months old and I was still trying to shed some more of the baby weight. Then I found out I was pregnant again!!  (Don't ask how that happened!)
So, here I was pregnant, with 2 kids under three! I was so stressed!

My hair was breaking seriously and I had no desire or energy to take good care of it. I didn't feel like a "sizzling mommy" anymore and I felt it would be hypocritical of me to post articles in my blog about healthy hair, etc. Anyways, I've been able to settle into a routine and my daughter is a bit more independent. I'm glad to be back and I hope to start posting soon.

I've really missed you all.
