For Killer Abs, Try Some ... Push-Ups?

Before I read this article ' For Killer Abs, Try Some ... Push-Ups? ' , I didn't know that push-ups could help with your abs but I figure that it's true because every time I try to do them, I feel the burn in my core! I'm still able to do only lady push-ups but I'm ready to step up my game to proper push-ups after reading this!! I even have the 'Perfect Pushup device'. I'll try it out for the next one month to see if it helps a little with improving the number of push-ups I can do at a time!!

Working towards a flatter tummy part 2

Yes I'm back to blogging! I've been in the middle of moving from one country to another so I was too busy to blog. I also didn't do any exercise and I was eating a lot for a while so I packed on a few pounds. Anyways, I finally resumed exercising 2 weeks ago. I/ve also been using a diastasis rehab splint on my tummy at least 8 hours a day. I was working out twice a day 5 days a week and I lost about 4 pounds and dropped 2 inches off my waist!! Yay! I was ecstatic! In addition, I've stayed off sweetened soda drinks, malt drinks, beef and all processed grains. I still eat yams, sweet potatoes, garri and brown rice though. I do the occasional pasta too. I've been taking soups, stews, protein/fruit smoothies, breakfast cereals, ,milk and lots of chicken and fish.
This week, I have to drop the workouts to once a week because I have to meet a 31st March assignment deadline for school and I need to spend more time working on this. I'm very happy about my progress and I'll post some pictures soon.

Working towards a flatter tummy part 1

Since I started working out 4 weeks ago, I haven't noticed any change in my waist size. This is somewhat depressing: I really want to have a flat tummy. How do all those celebrities do it? It amazes me how they get back their waist line within such a short time after giving birth.

I know that it took me 9 months to get to this point so I'm giving myself 9 months to get back to a fab body. I'm the kind of person that likes to research stuff because I believe that knowledge is power and I've learned a few things which I've been applying over the last few days. Before that, let me just talk briefly about causes of a persistent large tummy after pregnancy:

  1. Excess fat in the abdominal region
  2. Ingesting the wrong type of food
  3. Separation of the central abdominal connective tissue (diastasis recti)
  4. Prolonged bulging of the abdominal organ (over the last 9 months)
  5. Weak pelvic floor muscles
  6. Weakness of the core muscles especially the transverse muscle. There are 4 major abdominal muscles: rectus abdominis, transverse abdominis, internal oblique and external oblique muscles.

I'll talk more about this soon.
