My weight loss journey: End of week 1

Since I gave birth to my daughter 4 weeks ago, I've completely avoided doing any exercise but at the beginning of last week, I felt strong enough to start some light exercise. I weighed 176 pounds when I started and I worked out for 30 minutes for 4 days during the week using Leisa Hart's Fit mama postnatal workout DVD.  I also did some bicep curls using a 5 pound dumbbell. Today, I weigh 183 pounds (83.2kg), my waist measures 37 inches and my hips 42 inches!

Is it muscle gain or I'm adding more weight? I must confess that I haven't really controlled my food intake but that's one thing that I find really difficult: restricting the amount of food I eat. I can't help going for seconds and 'thirds' when the food is really tasty!
Although I'm not breastfeeding, I'm pumping and expressing milk daily. (My daughter has refused to breastfeed but I want her to get the benefits of breast milk!) I thought that would also accelerate my weight loss but I guess it's not. I wish I could use some weight loss pills but I can't because it would be in the breast milk and I don't know what sort of effect it'll have on my daughter. I don't think I'm ready to find out what!

This week, I'm going to really work on my eating habits and I hope to work out for 5 days this week. It took 9 months to put this weight on and so I don't beat myself down too much, I'll give myself at least that amount of time to take it off!!

Hey girl you are not terrible for a 4weeks postnatal.

Actually when you start working out, you start by adding some extra kg cos the muscles are building up & I don't mean to discourage you but it might continue for another one or two weeks before your flesh will start shrinking. It did happend to me & I continued cos I was bent in dropping those excess & I was in the gym for 5days in a week & in a month I added almost 5kg then the first week of the second month the weight then started going down.

Talking about food, I actually don't like dieting & I understand its not the best. Eating not too much & more than 3 times is not bad. All you can do is take more of protein & less of carbohydrate.
